On November 19, 2006, the Vietnam–Russia Joint Venture Bank (VRB) was officially inaugurated as a result of economic cooperation between the Governments and Central Banks of the two countries, creating opportunities to connect the two financial systems. VRB was honored to welcome President of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet and President of Russia Vladimir V. Putin on its opening day.

VRB is a joint venture between the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and VTB Bank (formerly Vneshtorgbank – the Foreign Trade Bank of Russia), each contributing 49.5% of the capital, while NGS Company contributes the remaining 1% of the charter capital.

To become a leading modern commercial bank and an indispensable financial partner in the trade ecosystem connecting Vietnam, the Russian Federation, and CIS countries.

Charter capital was increased from $10 million to $30 million, creating a foundation for VRB to expand its operations and strengthen its financial capacity.

VRB continues to increase its charter capital to $62.5 million, affirming the long-term cooperation commitment of its two parent banks, BIDV and VTB.

Charter capital has surged to $168.5 million, with equal capital contributions from BIDV and VTB. This marks a significant development, enhancing VRB's financial capacity and competitiveness.

VRB marks its 10th anniversary, affirming its position as a symbol of cooperation in the finance and banking sector between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

As of December 12, 2024, VRB's charter capital exceeded $170.2 million. The capital contribution structure comprises BIDV and VTB, each holding a 49.5% stake, and NGS Equipment and Communication Joint Stock Company, holding 1% of the charter capital.

As it approaches its 20th anniversary, VRB continues to affirm its mission as a financial and banking bridge, contributing to the promotion of economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
